Enjoy a chilled-out Autumn afternoon at a fun, free event featuring live music, family-friendly entertainment and a host of activities.
Autumn Fest will be held at Keysborough’s Wachter Reserve and is a great chance to meet with friends and family for a relaxed afternoon in the park.
Music lovers can grab one of our colourful bean bags and settle in for some live music including performances from the amazing Victorian Police Band Code One, a traditional didgeridoo performance and several talented local and emerging artists.
You can also take part in the many free activities including:

  • a 10-metre rock climbing wall
  • ride inside the ground zorb balls
  • visit the special Under 5s world
  • try sports activities including squash, soccer, cricket and more
  • arts and crafts
  • and much more

There will also be roving performers, food and market stalls and give-aways.

Last Sunday we held our inargural Hot & Cool event in the garden. It was a georgous day, the sun shone and there was not a cloud in the sky.

We had the Suitcase Rummage market back on site with loads of vintage and contemporary bargains. We also had music cortesty of Rosey and Nick Lovell. There were a number of tasty looking picnic treats spread out on the lawns being enjoyed by visitors and we had record numbers head into Laurel Lodge to check out the new historical displays.

All in all it was a perfect day! Next month, Hot & Cool heads over to the Walker St Gallery as we start heading into the colder months, the 7th April at 2:30pm sees Cosmo Cosmolino playing Gypsy and Eastern European music. Don’t forget, it’s a totally free event! We’ll see you in April at the Walker St Gallery.

suitcase2We wanted to tell you a bit more about the wonderful Suitcase Rummage, which is a a mini scaled market with giant rewards coming to Heritage Hill as part of our Open Day festivities. It promises to be everything that is a market without the hassle. Its about bringing a suitcase (or two!) filled to the brim with your goods and treats.

You can be a part of the Rummage experience by selling wares or come along to buy some real beauties! There will be brilliant vintage, artwork, bric-a-brac, clothing, books, jewellery, seconds, hand-made, shoes, records, music, badges, cards, handmade paper, ……you name it!

Come for a bargain, a swap, or an old fashioned haggle. Suitcase Rummage is not to be missed!

OpenDayHeritage Hill launches its 2013 season with a free Open Day on Sunday the 3rd of February. We’ll be hosting a Suitcase Rummage market, there will be chilled out tunes in the Rose Garden from some of our favourite musicians and a free arts workshop for kids.

A rare glimpse of vintage fashions will also be showcased in Heritage Hill’s Laurel Lodge. These garments, ranging from the 1940s to the 1970s, were all handmade by Mrs Dorothy Hart of Benga house and have only ever been publicly displayed once prior. (more…)

On Sunday we had our final Sunday in the Sun for 2012. It was another beautiful day filled with art making, picnic enjoying and gorgeous tunes, all framed by our rose garden, which is looking stunning for spring. Check out photos from the day!

Yesterday’s Sunday in the Sun was really lovely! The weather was perfect, sunny and 23 degrees, the gardens looked splendid and the musicians played some beautiful tunes.


We had quite a number of familes attend including one couple who were celebrating their anniversary!
Next month’s Sunday in the Sun (November the 11) line up is Benny Walker, Nick Lovell and Issac Main and we’d love to see you there!

Now it’s getting warmer, Sundays in the Sun is starting up again! For those of you who are new to our blog, Sundays in the Sun is a monthly relaxed afternoon of live music, family friendly activities and entertainment in the gardens. Bring a picnic and enjoy the fun, festivities and awesome live music in Heritage Hill’s beautifully manicured grounds from 12 to 3. It’s a free event!

Our musicians this month are:


Hello Satellites – Hello Satellites is the new project from Melbourne songwriter Eva Popov. It moves in the pop world whilst maintaining a depth that belies the escapism of modern pop music.

Jessica Paige – Singer, songwriter, guitarist and multi award winner Jessica Paige started her music career at the age of 15. Influenced by the Beatles, Elton John, Billy Joel, Rufus Wainwright, Ray LaMontagne and Van Dyke Parks, ‘The Music Network’ quoted her writing as “gorgeous melodies and delicious lyrics to match” while Adam Hills calles her “my favourite singer song-writer”

Gwendolyne O’Dea – with performances at the Apollo Bay Music Festival and appearances as a guest on both ABC 774 and Triple R Gwendolyn’s fast paced folk and country vocals give her the edge.

So come along and enjoy the day. We’ll see you this Sunday at Heritage Hill.

Worming your way to a healthy garden

Learn how to create a healthy garden and a healthy environment
at a free workshop this month.
Council is running an introductory session on how to establish a compost bin and worm farm at home. It will run as part of International Composting Awareness Week and offers practical advice on making chemical-free fertiliser to enrich your garden and grow healthy plants.
