COLOURED URBAN PATTERNS

Colour is viewed as having the potential to provoke a diverse
range of psychological and emotional reactions.
Taking the urban space as the medium of my artistic practice and the patterned “ready-built” forms around the city as my blank mute canvas, works of art are
spontaneously scattered in response to the lack of colour and its meaning on urban
surfaces.
Julian Clavijo has chosen to artistically intervene with the urban environment with a series of coloured timber blocks in an attempt to break up the monotony urban aesthetics. With over 300 coloured blocks, a series of small understated interventions have found their way into the crooks and cranies of Noble Park streetscapes, in wall crevices, broken pavement and under awnings, each coloured block has been carefully places to provide a delightful and unexpected encounter.
